Did you pig out at the cookout? 6 Food fixes that beat bloat fast!

Lately I’m all about what to eat (as opposed to what not to eat) to look and feel great, and I’m also all about enjoying myself on vacation. So this July 4th weekend, go ahead and have that burger, beer, macaroni salad and whatever else is on the menu at your mid-summer fete, and then make the necessary diet adjustments AFTER the party. Here, 6 simple swaps that will help you lose a little water weight and keep calories in check:

1) Season Food Without Salt

Smart Swap: Add zing to your meals with salt-free seasoning blends such as the Original and Italian medley Mrs. Dash instead of salt, salt-based seasonings, and highly processed foods. The reason? You may be attracted to your saltshaker, but water is, too. When you take in higher than usual amounts sodium, you’ll temporarily retain more fluid, contributing to that sluggish feeling, a puffy appearance, and extra water weight. Yuck.

2) Thirsty? Stick to plain H20

Smart Swap: There's nothing like a nice cold carbonated beverage when you're hot and thirsty but plain old tap water is a better way to stay hydrated—those tingly bubbles just end up in your belly, causing it to puff out more.

3) Up the protein, lower the carbs

Smart Swap: Use one slice of whole grain bread for your sandwich at lunch instead of two, and swap snacks like pretzels for nuts or seeds. At dinner, try to stick to lean protein sources and, if you must have a carb, try something made with whole grains like quinoa or brown rice. Unless you’re running a marathon this weekend, loads of high-carb foods like bagels, bread, pasta, pretzels, and cereal will just boost bloat. The science-y reason: as a backup energy source, your muscles store a type of carbohydrate called glycogen, and every gram of glycogen is stored with about 3 grams of water. But unless you have a vigorous exercise routine, you don't need all this stockpiled fuel. When you decrease the carbs, you'll temporarily train your body to access this stored fuel and burn it off. At the same time, you'll drain off excess stored fluids.

4) Cook your veggies

Smart Swap: Eat veggies, just eat them cooked—steaming is quick and easy. Fruit is gorgeous and plentiful right now so indulge in moderation. When you’re trying to watch your weight it may be temping to fill up on a grapes, but if you want a flat belly filling it with all that volume is counter-productive: A half-cup serving of cooked carrots delivers the same nutrition as one cup raw, but it takes up less room in your GI tract. The same goes for fresh fruits: Compare the size of a few grapes to a few raisins. Big difference! While you’re at it skip those notorious gas-causers like broccoli and cauliflower and cook up green beans, mushrooms, and squash—which is bountiful right now anyway.

5) Season food with belly-friendly flavors

Smart swap: some people love their food four-alarm spicy (I’m one of them)! Feel the heat for one night, then lay off the barbecue sauce and garlic for a few days while debloating. Give dishes a flavor boost with in-season fresh or dried herbs like dill, basil, mint, sage, tarragon, and rosemary. You can also use curry powder, lemon or lime juice—all perfect with fish or chicken. Try to avoid Black pepper, nutmeg, cloves, Chili powder, hot sauces, onions, garlic, mustard, barbecue sauce, horseradish, catsup, tomato sauce, vinegar; Spicy foods can stimulate the release of stomach acid, which can cause irritation.

6) Satisfy an oral fixation with seeds, not gum

Smart Swap: If you chew gum by habit or just like to bite down on something crunchy, reach for some nuts, like roasted or raw unsalted sunflower seeds. You probably don't realize this, but when you chew gum, you swallow air. All that air gets trapped in your GI tract and causes pressure, bloating, and belly expansion—none of which are swimsuit-friendly.

6 Essential Flat-Belly Foods

It's summertime—are you in swimsuit shape?

Even if you've spent the past months dieting yourself into fit form, a few poor food choices each week can quickly add up to a juggernaut of jiggle well before Labor Day. Don't believe us? Consider the caloric damage of typical summer activities—weekly backyard BBQs provide pounds of juicy burgers topped with gobs of high-calorie condiments; ice cream dates offer options of double and triple scoops, smothered in sugar-packed and fat-blasted toppings; and seasonal drink choices (the kind you add umbrellas to and sip from faux-coconuts) guarantee you'll wash it all down with hundreds of extra calories. Not exactly flat-belly fare.

That's why Eat This, Not That! has developed this list of six essential summer foods. The more of these bulge-battlers you eat, the better your chances of keeping those abs flat throughout this skin-baring season.

QUINOA
Per ¼ cup:
170 calories
2.5 g fat
7 g protein
3 g fiber

For starters, anytime you choose a whole-grain product over one made from nutrient-stripped white flour, you wage war against belly fat. Penn State researchers found that dieters who ate whole-grains lost twice as much belly fat as those who stuck to white-flour products—even though they'd consumed the same number of calories. What's more, quinoa contains twice the belly-filling protein as regular cereal grains, fewer glucose-raising carbohydrates, and even a handful of healthy fats. So start your day off with a cup of cooked quinoa combined with a ½ cup of milk and ½ cup of blueberries—microwave for 60 seconds, and you have a delicious (and slimming) alternative to your traditional oatmeal. Bob's Red Mill Organic Quinoa won "Best Grain" in Men's Health's Best Foods Awards 2009.

GREEN TEA
0 calories

Catechins, the powerful antioxidants found in green tea, are known to increase metabolism. A study by Japanese researchers found that participants who consumed 690 milligrams of catechins from green tea daily had significantly lower body mass indexes and smaller waist measurements than those in a control group. It's safe to say that green tea is one of the best beverages for your health—a stark contrast to any of these 20 unhealthiest drinks in America. Avoid those belt-buckling drinks at all costs.

KEFIR
Per cup:
174 calories
2 g fat
14 g protein
3 g fiber

Think of kefir as drinkable yogurt, or an extra-thick, protein-packed smoothie. In either case, this delicious dairy product is a belly-blasting essential. Beyond the satiety-inducing protein, the probiotics in kefir may also speed weight loss. British scientists found that these active organisms boosted the breakdown of fat molecules in mice, preventing the rodents from gaining weight. The researchers still need to prove the finding in humans, but there's no danger in downing probiotic-packed products. We like Lifeway Lowfat Blueberry Kefir—it contains L. casei, the same probiotic used in the study.

AVOCADO
Per avocado:
322 calories
29 g fat (4 g saturated, 20 g monounsaturated)
13 g fiber
4 g protein

Never fear this full-fat Mediterranean-diet staple: It's teeming with healthy monounsaturated fats (also found in olive oil), which have been linked to lowered LDL cholesterol levels and weight loss. In fact, a recent longitudinal study published in The New England Journal of Medicine found that the healthy-fat Mediterranean diet was more effective than a diet that avoided fats altogether—so go ahead and indulge!

EGGS
Per 1 large scrambled egg:
102 calories
7 g fat (2 g saturated)
7 g protein

A British study found that people who increased the percentage of protein-based calories in their diet burned 71 more calories a day (that's 7.4 pounds a year!). Jumpstart your metabolism as soon as you wake up with a protein-rich breakfast of scrambled eggs. (Go to eatthis.com for other great no-diet weight-loss secrets.)

GRAPEFRUIT
Per grapefruit:
104 calories
4 g fiber
2 g protein

A grapefruit a day in addition to your regular meals can speed weight loss. The fruit's acidity slows digestion, meaning it takes longer to move through your system, and you'll end up feeling fuller, and more satisfied, for longer. And the vitamin C-packed grapefruit works to lower cholesterol and decrease risk of stroke, heart disease, and some types of cancer.

Losing Myself... 10% of Me...

Guess what... I weighed in today at a sassy 174.4! I KICKED ASSSSSSSS! I got not only my 10% Key Ring, but also my 20 pound marker! Officially, I am down 21.8 pounds! I'm going to aim now at reaching under 170. I don't think it'll happen this week... possibly the week after. But next week would be great if I could get to 171.6 and earn my 25 pound award.

I upped the intensity of my jog yesterday. I now jog 3 light posts/trees and walk one. Next week I'm increasing my time to 45 minutes a day instead of 35 minutes that should give me a boost. I'm trying to add more protein still. Some days are better than others. I think I need to cut the beef eating out for a bit... maybe down to once a week or something.

Next week I move into Phase 3 of The Fat Smash Diet... which will allow me 2 cookies or a scoop of ice cream. I think this is the longest I've been without ice cream. I love it, and can eat it everyday all year around. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! So, I'm excited. I haven't had any processed sugar since I re-started and have been on program.

I still can't believe I got my 10% today. I've been trying since September 2008!

Well, it's getting later I've better get my day started...

Happy Losing!

Quick Update

Just a quick update because I know my day is going to be busy...

Yesterday, I had beef so I was able to use up more points than I thought I was going too... used 14, and earned 3 activity points, completely on program - drank all my water, and took my multi-vitamin.

Today, I didn't work out. I got up this morning and couldn't help it and had to text Ross... I love that man so much I don't know what to do. I got dressed to go workout, but instead stayed and texted with him and clean a morning prayer ceremony. In all my lostness I've been doing a lot of praying.

I'll be hitting the track (sidewalk) this evening afterwork... I don't like evening workouts - but a girls got to do, what a girls got to do. It'll be a fun evening of working out, some cleaning, and pedicures. I'm going to the Chiropractic on Thursday and he likes to check feet... can't have no critter toes poking at his fingers... lol.

Thank you all for your continued support during this difficult time. I truly appreciate your comments... I think I've dealt with death better than I have this break-up. But I'm not giving up on us yet. I love him with all my heart...

I'm sorry for bringing so much emotion and not a lot of Weight Loss to this blog lately. But in a way it's all tied in... right?

Another Rough Day...

It's another rough day for me... struggling... I've had 4 points so far... I had a Low Fat Cheese Stick for breakfast. After a crying fit I got up to get water and stumbled into the and felt light headed... I knew I didn't have enough to eat so I had a banana and later a cup of cherries...

I just can't bring myself to eat. I feel like I'm in mourning... even though he's suppose to be re-considering the break-up I still feel like he's died. I've never felt heart break like this.

The good news is I have been able to motivate myself to get up every weekday morning and go for my walk/jog... which is more of a jog now... today I did 1.78 in 35 minutes - no hills. Not bad...

Tomorrow, I start my last week of The Fat Smash Diet's Phase 2... then I move onto 3... exciting. I have never made it this far...

Bye-Bye Belly #2

- Women who do full-body strength-training twice a week decrease overall body fat and don't gain as much ab fat as those who don't.

- To make your core work to stabilize your body (which strengthens abs), do moves one arm or leg at a time. A strong core helps you stay injury-free and gives you a pulled-in tummy.

- Don't neglect your mid-back muscles (the lats). They work with your core to help you stand straighter, minimizing your pooch. Try Law Rows: Bend at the wasit and hold a dumbbell in each hand; bend elbows and pull weights up until elbows are level with torso.

- To really challenge your abs, crank out crunches on a stability ball. You'll engage more muscles than you will doing traditional crunches.

- Tight hip flexors can lead to an imbalance that makes your spine arch and pelvis tilt out, emphasizing your belly. To loosen hip flexors: Kneel on one knee, other leg bent, foot on floor; press pelvis forward until your feel a stretch down the front thigh of kneeling leg.

5 Point Days

I think I'm a happy emotional eater... I eat when I'm happy as opposed to down/depressed like a lot of people. It's my 2nd lonely weekend without Ross... and I can't eat a thing. I knew it was coming yesterday and I only had 5 points and the same for Thursday. I try to eat... I just can't I get a stomachache and feel like I'm going to vomit if I force it. I feel like I have rocks in my throat and stomach. I know this can't be healthy...

Yesterday the only reason I used five points is because I forced myself to eat a piece of fish so that I'd have enough energy to get up this morning and workout since I didn't work out yesterday. It was a very tramatic night on Thursday when Ross refused to talk to me on the phone. I was so upset I couldn't even sleep... I feel asleep close to mid-night woke up at 2:30am and was awake until my alarm went on at 6am. I knew it wasn't a smart thing to jogging with lack of food and sleep so I just took care of a few things here around the house and went to work early.

I made up for it this morning. I made sure to eat some protein yesterday and went to bed about 9:30... I slept a little better last night. I got up did my run... 1.72 in 35 minutes. Beats last Friday's record of 1.70. I'm getting faster and after I finish my warm-up walking the jogging/walking part isn't so bad. The last five minutes of my 35 minutes I call them the "Five Minute Hell" that's when I super push myself to get in as much jogging as I can. I'm usually still a ways from home when my 35 minutes is up but after 35 minutes I stop and walk super slow home... more like a stroll... that's sort of my cool-down.

It's Saturday... I miss Ross like crazy. My last x-amount of Saturdays have been spent with him. I don't know what to do with myself. I guess today I'll go do my hour of house cleaning... wake Vi up and we'll head to Target to get a new belt for my vacuum, come back finish the wash pantry and bathroom... go over my bedroom a little - then we're planning on having a photo shoot today, her and I.

We've been saying we are for the longest. We haven't taken pictures together or of each other in a long while... so if there's time we're going to do that today... if not tomorrow.

Happy Losing Everyone...

Bye-Bye Belly #1

- Women who hit the gym and watch calorie intake reduce ab fat-cell size by about 18 percent, making them more successful at tummy trimming than those who just dieted.

- The more weigh-bearing the exercise, the more calories torched from your midsection. So walk, run, or add some jump roping to your usual routine.

- Doing crunches? Pull in your abs before curling up to work your muscles twice as hard.

- Do the Bicycle to target other ab muscles (crunches work only the rectus abdominus, aka your six-pack): Lie with your hands behind your head; alternate touching each elbow to the oppposit knee.

- Your abs get used to routine, vary your exercises every time you hit the gym. (Throw in a new move or two, or try your usual ones on a stability ball.) You can also switch up your entire routine every month to keep your stomach guessing - and shrinking.

DAMN THAT SCALE!

I woke up this morning and got on my home scale... just to check my weight at home one more time before going to my meeting... 176.5... I was pumped... that meant for sure I'd be getting my 10% award today.

When I got to my meeting I was 177.6... .4 short of getting my 10%... WTF! I was down to just my shorts and super thin t-shirt... there was nothing I could possibly take off to get that scale to go down that wouldn't get me arrested for indecent exposure.

I'm so disappointed, because I was REALLY looking forward to this award. Oh well... time to get my ass back to work and prepared for the next weigh-in... this time I'm aiming to go beyond my 10% and possibly down to 173!

Well... I'm off to work now!... Inching closer to my 10% and my 33 by 33! Only 19 more pounds to go for that... and it's not even the middle of July!

Happy Losing...

Eat Like Jillian

The Biggest Loser trainer-and SELF's newest contributing editor!-is always go-go-going. What you see on TV is only a slice of Jillian Michaels's life. When she's offscreen, she's still whipping her contestants (and herself!) into shape.

How does this powerhouse fuel her jam-packed schedule? She prioritizes. "If I didn't work out and watch what I ate, I'd easily be 200 pounds," she admits. "I'm not the girl who loves to go to the gym. And I'm not the girl who loves broccoli, either. But I am the girl who feels potent, capable and confident when she feels strong, and I don't want to give that up. To me, it's about building a better body." Find out what a fitness guru really eats with SELF's day in the diet of Jillian Michaels.

Breakfast
To start the day off right, Michaels stocks up on carbs for long-lasting energy. "Breakfast is usually whole-grain Ezekiel English Muffins with almond butter," she says. "And I eat two whole English Muffins, about 500 calories."

Lunch
"For lunch, I'll usually have some sort of fish and veggies," says Michaels, who usually eats with her Biggest Loser contestants. "Salmon carpaccio and a vegetable or salad. But if it comes with cheese, I won't eat the cheese."

Snack
For a quick afternoon pick-me-up, "I'll have hummus and carrot sticks or chips and salsa or an orange and raw almonds or Brazil nuts," she says. "A little bit of protein and a little bit of carbs." No matter what she's munching on, you can bet it'll be the healthiest option.

Dinner
"I try to cut out carbs whenever possible," Michaels says of her final meal. "And I eat organic whenever possible. I work with organic chefs who help me on my website and we create recipes and test them out. I eat fish a lot."

Sweet treat
"I try to get my dark chocolate in somewhere throughout the day," she admits. "I have to have it. I work it into my calorie allowance and I will always have 200 calories of chocolate...always!"

Much About Nothing

I realized today that it's super easy to put on weight and so fucken hard to get it off... it's the opposite of money. Money is easy to spend (get rid of) but hard to obtain (gain)...

I've got a good start to the day... it's not even 10am yet, and I've already exercised for 35 minutes... walked/jogged hustled my fat ass up those hills... it was an extra hilly day today. I did 1.72 during my workout...

Aside from working out this morning, I've also washed some dishes, washed two loads of laundry, took those two down to the laundry mat to dry, and am now washing my 3rd load. I've had breakfast, showered, and am ready to go to work now.

This is a good feeling. I don't know if I've lost Ross for good... I'm hoping I haven't... but it feels good that I'm getting my life in order which is what he wanted me to do.

I got on the scale this morning and it said 177.5... just .3 away from my 10%... I have two days to shed .3. I can do this. I would really like to weigh-in at 175, but I don't think that is going to happen... it's all good... my heart is really set on getting my 10% award... after that I'll focus on my next goal. My next major goal is 158.2... but I've also got some mini ones inbetween that... 175, 170, 165, 160... after I reach my 158.2 I'll have to figure out my next goals... I don't think I'll set them at 5 pounds... since I'll be 18 pounds away from goal I'll have to set smaller one... maybe every three pounds would be good.

I don't remember myself at 158... I sort of do. I got there in 2000 when I did Weight Watcher's the very first time. Every one was amazed at my progress... I felt great. I had to get rid of a lot of my clothes because they were getting too big. I don't know how the heck I lost it without any exercise. I felt good but not strong... now that I've been walking/jogging I feel strong... I like that feeling. I like walking and not feeling my fat jiggle as much. I def feel the exercise expediting my weight loss... or at least helping sculpt my body.

Why didn't I commit to this on this level before? It's hard work, but definitely worth it. When I fall off track I forget how good it feels to be ON track. I forget how good to feels to feel strong.

This post has been much about nothing... so I'm going to sign off now. Perhaps tomorrow I'll have more today... if not you might get an article or something don't want to post too many rambling entries... lol. But for sure you'll hear about my results on Thursday... maybe even a video!

Happy Losing...

Monday Mumbles

Yesterday was another star day. I didn't break my Saturday's 10 mile record, but that's okay... I was burnt out but still did tons of laundry and pretty much finished my bedroom... now all I have left is to put things back into it's place or find new places for them.

I did however get in 6.87 miles of moving all day and that was without exercise... it was my day off...

So far today it's going good. I got up and got my butt out the door to exercise. I upped my jogging today from walking one street pole/tree, jogging one street pole/tree... to walking one street pole/tree, jogging two street poles/trees... I did pretty good... it was a little challenging but I got through it... my legs felt like noodles afterwards. But after I got over it... I got a burst of energy.

Had papaya for breakfast... I've had my multi-vitamin, and some water... today's going to be another star day!

I'm a little excited and nervous at the same time about Thursday's weigh-in. I think this is going to be my 10% weigh-in. I'm trying not to jinx myself...

Well, I've better get going... got lost of work today.

10 Mile Walk

I had another star day yesterday, even used up more points... used 14 points, and earned 8 activity points... I did TONS of cleaning yesterday... resulting in me walking 10 miles total (I wear my pedometer every waking hour).

I think for sure I'm going to get my 10% award Thursday... I can't wait to get this weight off. Honestly, I'm hoping to get back together with Ross. I love him dearly. Even though I believe love should be unconditional... I understand (now) how important a healthy body is to him... not just for him to have one but also his partner. I'm praying that we get back together... I would be completely loss without him. But now that I've been on program 2 weeks and exercising I'm seeing a difference in my body and energy levels and I like it. I don't want to loss this weight just to keep my boyfriend but also for me... I like the way I'm starting to look in the mirror. That's a big deal for me... I never like what I see in the mirror.

I'll be doing some more hardcore cleaning today. I'm hoping to finish my room today. I've got a good start and I'm going to be working all day until mid-night... my goal for today is to top yesterday's 10 miles... which might be a little hard considering I exercised yesterday so that counted towards my mileage... but today I'll be doing more laundry... which means I'll be walking up and down the hill going to the laundry-mat to dry my clothes. Yesterday I did about 9 loads... right now I have loads 3 and 4 drying and load 6 washing. I'm hoping to get EVERY thing done today.

Well... I'm off to go work in my bedroom. Happy Sunday... and Happy Losing...

Happy 4th of July!

I hope you all have a very enjoyable 4th of July... mine will be spent mostly cleaning my storage room and turning it back into my bedroom. Yesterday, I got rid of 15 pieces of clothing... I went through my whole closet and tried on everything (that was hanging up)... 15 pieces of clothes for me is a lot. I'm a hoarder... another reason I lost Ross... he didn't like my hoarding ways, so that's another think I'm working on.

So far today... I'm kicking ass once again. I got up and went walking/jogging to make up for Thursday's missed workout. I did excellent! In 35 minutes I walked/jogged 1.82! Almost reaching my 2 mile goal. I have two more weeks to reach that.

I'm still feeling pretty down, still can't sleep or eat right... people look at me and tell me I'm handling it very well... they don't know I'm dying on the inside. I keep going physically because I told him I was going to change... and even though he doesn't believe me and even though he said he wasn't sure if we could get back together... I'm doing this to prove it to myself. I CAN DO THIS!

I don't think I'll be doing fireworks this year. My daughter wants to go to San Francisco or do something... I just don't have it in me. I might call my dad and see if he wants to take us somewhere...

I got on the scale this morning (not sure how accurate it is compared to Weight Watchers' scale)... it said 178.5... HOLY I don't remember the last time I was that weight... had to be before 2005!

Well... I've better get going... I have a lot of work to do today.

Happy 4th of July and Happy Losing!

Dropping Weight Like A Hot Potato...

Nothing much to report on this end... still on program, I'm going to drop this weight like a hot potato! I've decided that when I do get back eating I'm not going to use my activity points nor my 35 flex points until I reach goal... as long as I stick to healthy foods I should be fine.

I got on the scale this morning and already it said 181.0 of course I was naked.

Food wise today, not to bad... got 6 glasses of water in so far, have also used up 9 points... and I have protein today which is a good think. I noticed I'm getting weaker with my runs... today for the first time I jogged slower then before. I slept longer but still tossed and turned.

I didn't workout yesterday, so I need to make up for it tomorrow. I didn't work today, so I spent this morning earning some cleaning activity points. I just went to see the movie Public Enemies... I love Johnny Depp... LOVE HIM! But I wasn't convinced he was John Dillinger. I prefer Mark Harmon as Dillinger in the movie he made about a decade or so ago.

Anywho... this evening will be spent making room in my closet for more clothes I need to get organized. I'm having my daughter go through all the clothes with me and give me her opinion... the clothes that don't made the cut is getting trashed. After that I'll be cleaning the bathroom... this morning I started a deep cleaning in there.

Well, I'm off to start pulling my clothes out of my closet...

Happy Weekend and Losing...

And The Scale Says...

It was a crazy night last night... a story I'll save for another blog... I wasn't about to workout today due to lack of sleep... I'm running on empty right now.

I did however get to a WW scale... and guess what it said... I am officially 181.6 pounds! I blew off 8.4 pounds in a week... HOLY!

Of course I would NOT recommend doing what I'm doing. I've been very stressed over Ross so I haven't been able to eat... I'm talking only using 10-12 points a day type thing. This week I'm going to try to use my daily minimum... so far I've used 6.

So, last week I used up an average about of points I was using a day in the past... plus I exercised everyday. My goal is to workout five days a week... so since I skipped today I'm going to be on the trail Saturday morning bright and early.

I'm super burnt out. Gonna go lay down now...

PHASE II and Completed Challenge

I've made it. I successfully completely Phase 1 of the Fat Smash Diet! I got on the scale this morning it said 183... that's 8 pounds in 9 days. I don't think the scale at Weight Watcher's will be that generous but that's okay, 8 pounds is to much to lose in a big chunk anyway. I haven't been eating as much as I should... I've been trying to force myself... I barely finish 1/2 of my points if that. Either way, I've been eating what I'm suppose too and exercising every weekday.

Today is day one of Phase 2, so I upped my exercise to 35 minutes, also now instead of just power walking - I alternate power walking with jogging. Every light post, pole, or tree I alternate between the two. It was quite a workout. I did 1.79 miles in 35 minutes. My goal is 2 miles in 35 minutes. I got some hills in, so it was a good workout.

I'm looking forward to dinner today, I'm going to have a piece of lean steak, a side salad, and a 1/4 of Avocado. Hopefully, I'll be able to eat. I was feeling okay this morning. I had a banana smoothie. I skipped putting yogurt into it. I tried that yesterday and wasn't to happy with the taste. Now, I'm starting to feel all knotty inside... Fat or Ross

I try not to write too many personal things on here that doesn't pertain to my weight loss... but this sort of does. My boyfriend broke up with me yesterday, one of the main reasons is that he's frustrated that I haven't adopted a healthier lifestyle.

I'm so frustrated with myself. You might think it's an asshole reason to break-up with someone but I can honestly say he's tried, he brought me a treadmill, he tried the Fat Smash Diet with me even thought he doesn't have really anything to lose... he has done numerous things to supportive of me being a healthier me and I have failed... and this is killing me because I'm losing the love of my life over fat, over something I can completely control but have allowed to control me.

I'm frustrated that I have not done this for me, for him... for my daughter so she'll have me around healthy and longer.

But I refuse to go out without a fight. Him and I have been together 2 years and 5 months without any major problems or drama. Our birthdays are 5 days apart, we're both Libras and Dragons... our names even match Ross and Rosie. I refuse to give up on us. He says he's lose hope of me ever changing. But is willing to talk to me this evening. And this morning he agreed to fix my treadmill, yesterday he didn't want to see me at all because he said there are still feelings there and he doesn't want to get sucked back in to a relationship and knowing that I'm not going to change.

I couldn't eat a thing yesterday... I had 3 egg whites, a 4 pt banana smoothie, and 2 cups of grapes... used 7 points and earned 3 of those back. That's not good but I just can't eat when I'm upset. I'm going to try having a smoothie this morning and add some yogurt to use up some of the points. I got on the scale this morning it said 183.5... that is great, but not great because a loss like that might not allow me to lose next week... so I've got to get these points in.

Today's the last day of detox... tomorrow I'll be moving on to Phase Two, and I can't wait to jump on the scale Thursday morning.

I'm going to do this... I'm going to lose this weight! I can do this, and I'm going to prove to Ross that I can change. I love him with all my heart, I don't know what I will/would do without him.

Only A Few More Days Of Detoxing

So far I've collected 7 Stars! I'll be at the second hand in no time. I had a great weekend on program. Yesterday, I had 9 points left over plus the 1 earned from going on a little walk. I've been eating good and all the time, just eating the food that's on the fat smash diet list... I can't seem to get all my points in. I'm going to try today to use up all my points. I don't want my body to get use to eating so few points...

Yesterday, I used the day to rest... which my body needed and still needs, I went to bed way past my bed time last night and this morning didn't do as well on my walk... only 1.54 miles, my only excuse is that it was sort of in a hilly area, and I've some sort of cough that's mostly dry and kept me up most of the night. I guess the important thing here is that I got up and out this morning and got the workout done.

I'm not feeling too good today, I'm extremely nervous over a certain situation that has my stomach in constant knots... right now it's so bad I feel like vomiting.

I have only a few more days of Detoxing - The Fat Smash Diet's Phase 1... then I'll be moving to Phase 2 - Foundation... which I'll be add back some food into my diet like avocado and poultry and fish, I'll also be increasing my exercise by 5 minutes. I'm excited about additional foods, but really the increase of exercise.

I feel great about this detox, I'm doing it with grace really no struggling - as the days go one the cravings get easier and easier to deal with. Even getting up in the morning to exercise is okay... if I could only get rid of this cough that now has my head all stuffy.

Well, I'm going to go now... not feeling so well and I have a feeling if I keep going on it's going to turn into random nervous/sick babble...

Have a Happy Losing Day!

Sunday

This is another quick post... we didn't go on our 20 mile ride today... we would of had to get up at 6am to leave due to the heat, but didn't wake up until 7:30. I'm kind of glad... I've been working out all week and yesterday we did the long ride, today I wanted to rest my body - but Ross' wants to get into biking to build up his legs and I want to encourage him to do that, so that's why I agreed on biking both days. If we would of I would of totally been tired and suffering next week... your body needs at least one day to rest.

I got on the scale this morning... it said... are you ready for this?! 186.8! Of course that's not my official weigh-in, but it's still nice to hop on a scale and see a lower number. My body fat it says 36.5%. I'm not sure who accurate that is.

It's going to be another GREAT on program day... I had a 1pt omelette for breakfast and for dinner we're having kabobs made with different colored bell peppers, marinated tofu, onion, and pineapple... it's an experiment - I'll let you know how it works out.

Happy Losing...

Super Saturday

Quick post... I'm at Ross'. It was another kick ass day! Today I used up all my points plus 1. I'm one of those people who believes all your points should be used just because it's better for your body and gives you a bit of padding when you have to lower your points to keep losing.

I've earned 11 activity points this week and used one today... not back. I am kicking ass this week!

I made a Pina Colada smoothie using banana, milk, Splenda, vanilla, pineapple chunks, coconut. Totally not worth the points. The banana over powered everything. I could of made a 4pt smoothie and saved 4 pts if I would of skipped the coconut and pineapple. Oh well... next time.

We also took our longest bike ride today... 15 miles - and it was 100 degree weather! We did it in 1 hour and 39 minutes... not bad for Rookies!

We're going for a 20 mile ride tomorrow... I'll keep you posted on that.

TGIF

Another star! Cuz' I'm what? Kicking Fats Butt!

I woke up this morning feeling like crap. Last night I was so sore I could barely sit in my chair to finish my blog entry. I went to sleep laying on top of my massage pad. I woke up with what felt like a fever, my body was completely sore from head to toe, and I felt weak.

I laid there for a minute, and forced myself out of bed and into my workout clothes. I popped and Advil and got my butt in gear. Did my 30 minute workout - walked/jogged 1.63 miles...

I realized yesterday's and this morning's walk/jog wasn't slower than the other days... the other days I was including the steps I had walked before beginning the exercise into my exercise distance.

After my workout today I felt a better not 100%, but it got my blood pumping and I gained some energy.

Today, I'm on program... food wise, got my exercise done... so far I've earned 3 activity points... by the end of the day it'll be at least 4. I'm having a kick ass day as far as program, but I'm feel like crap. I've been coughing all day, my head hurts, my body's tired and achy... I think either
I'm getting sick or I'm exhausted.

Tomorrow morning Ross and I are planning on going on a 20 mile bike ride... it's our first attempt at one... wish us luck!

This morning while going through some old photos I found one of me at somewhere between 160-165 I think they from sometime in 2000 when I lost a little over 25 pounds on Weight Watchers the very first time I joined them.

Here's what I looked like...
That's me at about 160-165... probably more like 165.

My 33 by 33 Challenge goal is 158... so that picture should give us an idea of the size I'll be, except I lost that weight not doing any exercise, and this time I'm working out.

Sigh... I can't wait to be there again.

Well, I've better get going now - have lots to do to get my weekend started.
I hope you all have a fun, healthy, losing weekend!

Happy Losing...

WEDNESDAY'S REVIEW
I did pretty good yesterday... I hit all my intake goals... got all my water in, dairy, fruits and vegetables, my multi, etc. I earned 4 activity points... and left 7 so I left a total of 11 points behind. My only regret from yesterday was having my banana smoothie so late in the day and drinking water after 5pm. I think I would of done a lot better at weigh-in today. It was another KICK ASS DAY! Another star on the books for me!

THIS WEEKS WEIGH-IN

I weighed in this morning - only being back on program since Monday... and weighed in at 190.0! I missed last weeks meeting, I made excuses but really I knew I had gained... so I don't know what I lost since last week... but since two weeks ago I lost .4 which is great. If you're going by my weight on Monday than I lost 1 pound! I KICKED ASS! And you know what is even better. My next weigh-in will be a full week of me on program so I should have a really nice loss!

TODAY'S REVIEW
Another great day, and a star on tomorrow's entry. I've reach all my goals, all I have left is 4 cups of water, and my multivitamin. I made a few mistakes today. Due to me going to a super early meeting I didn't have time to workout, so I didn't get my workout in until the evening time. I worked all day, and did some running around... so by the time I was able to sneak a workout in I was tired and unmotivated too... but I put my workout clothes on and got my butt out there. I did 1.61 miles... it's the worse time all this week... BUT I also did extra-hills so I think the hills effected my time. Either way I put some hustle into my workout and even though it's my slowest time I still feel great about it.

Well this entry turned out to be pretty long, so I'll cut it off here... Hope you all have a great successful OP day!

See you tomorrow...

Slapp'n Another Star On My Book

This is a quick one today... I'm pressed for time. Yesterday was another Gold Star day... I ate a little better... used up 12 points. Mostly just fruits and vegetables. The Fat Smash Diet detox phase is mostly just fruits/vegetables with some protein the only hardcore carb allowed is rice that is limited and it has to be brown.

I've been to lazy to make any rice so I've just been having fruits and vegetables. I earned 3 activity points for the day so really I left over 15 points which is better than the day before when I left over 22...

Currently I'm allowed 26 points but day, but I have a good feeling that Thursday when I weigh-in my points allowance is going down. I got on the scale this morning and am now down to 189! That means in two days I've lost 2 pounds... crazy. Today, I'm going to try to eat more points.

It's going to be another KICK ASS day. I'm up, feeling good... I'm done with my exercise for today... walked 1.74 miles in 30 minutes. I feel great. I'm going to go take my multi-vitamin and jump in the shower.

Happy Losing today!

Gold Star Days...

I'm a big time thrifter... I can smell a second-hand store a mile away. The upside I find a lot of cool stuff and always save a ton of money on everything I get there. The downside is that I accumulate clutter.

Like my body clutter lately I've been working on turning my apartment back into a home instead of a over-packed storage unit, by getting rid of the clutter... clutter which includes extra dishes, knick-knacks, toys, and clothes, clothes, clothes. I have a hard time tossing out clothes.

When my mother was little she was very poor... so poor she outgrew her coat, couldn't button it shut anymore but still had to wear it... she had very limited clothing. When I was growing up she hated tossing anything out... especially if the clothes could still be worn. She'd never let me throw anything away. So I kept it all... and still have that bad habit. I just started tossing my daughter's baby/kid clothes... huh - she's 15 years old now!

Anyway, I love thrifting... it's in my heart and soul. But if I'm going to keep my apartment clutter free I need to slow it down...

Also I love rewards and treats. Sooooo I'm getting closer to my point... (I do have one)!

For everyday that I do good - eating, drinking all my water, taking my vitamin, and exercise... I get a Gold Star which I'll place a star sticker in my journal for that day (sort of like a Bravo Sticker for you Weight Watcher's out there...) I'll also post a Gold Star on my following days post... just like the one you see above.

For every 10 stars I get, I'll allow myself to go to the second hand and send $10.00 more if it's one big ticket item - like furniture (been looking to get a few new pieces lately).

So get ready to see this blog plastered with Gold Stars!

It's still early but today is going to be a great day! Once again I'm going to kick ass... I got up at 6am, went for my 30 minute walk... 1.72... slightly slower than yesterday's walk (1.83) but I did do more hills today.

I've finished my exercise, brought in the dry laundry, washed a load and hung it out... now I'm washing a comforter for my mother, and I put away the clean dishes. I've done my exercise, 20 minutes of cleaning, and am making my breakfast - haven't been hungry lately so I'm gonna have three egg white and head to the store to pick up some more fruit and vegetables. I have to start work at 10am...

Yesterday I did GREAT! Well not that great but still great for my situation... I exercised, took my vitamin... I kicked ass in the exercise department... earned myself 5 activity points. But since this weekend I haven't really had an appetite... I only used up 9 points. Which isn't good because Weight Watcher's encourage you do eat all your points daily so you won't starve your body. I just couldn't force myself to eat any more.

- Oatmeal 1 cup
- Fat Free Milk 1/2 cup
- 1 Cucumber
- Hot Sauce, Lemon Juice, A Bit Of Salt
- 1 Peach
- 1 Peach
- 1 Cup Corn
- 3 Egg Whites
- 1/2 Cucumber
- Hot Sauce, Lemon Juice, A Bit Of Salt

I actually had a pretty good amount of food... it was just all clean food that's why i didn't use up much points.

Along with the Weight Watcher's I'm giving the Fat Smash Diet another try... Weight Watcher's is a great lifestyle but I need a diet right now to detox me of all the crap for now. So I'm doing a Weight Watchers/Fat Smash Diet Combo... following the Fat Smash Diet but also journaling everything and counting points. Once I finish one full cycle of the Fat Smash Diet (90 days) then I'll just follow Weight Watchers but by then I should have a good routine down and have rid myself of all the cravings for crap I always get.

Ross wants me to do his Body For Life program... I told him after I finish the fat smash diet I'll give it a try but still want to count my points.

Back about 2001 my friend did Body For Life and kicked ass... that girl lost about 60 pounds! I got on the bandwagon and tried it for a few weeks... a few weeks to the T... exercise, eating 6 times a day - protein and carbs... I didn't lose anything. It was so frustrating I didn't know what to do... so I did what any sane person would do when you're doing a diet for several weeks and don't lose an ounce... I quit.

Ross did that diet and lost 40 pounds. Maybe I was doing it wrong or just having too much to eat I don't know. I'll give it another try for him but not until after I do the fat smash diet and I'm also going to continue to count my points.

Well I've been babbling for quite a while today... so I'm going to cut it short...

Oh wait a couple of more things...

Oh gosh, I can't remember them but I if I do I'll post them tomorrow.

Have a good successful day... happy losing...

Today is going to be a successful day.

Yesterday, was one my worse days ever... I was/am frustrated with myself... yesterday I was super depressed. I slept it off, today I'm productive. I got up at 6am and went for a good 30 minute cardio walk. It felt good to be so productive.

I forget that I actually like waking up early and getting things done. I got up at 6am exactly... put a load of laundry to wash, went for my walk, came back got dressed. Now I'm making my Oatmeal and writing this.

I'm going in leave early to work so I'll have time to go across the street to the market and pick up some fruits and vegetables for today and tomorrow.

I can't dwell on the past, I can only focus on the present and future. I've exercised, I've taken my vitamins, I've had some water, and I have healthy food on my mind.

I can do this... I will do this. Today is going to be a successful day.

Depressed, WTF is wrong with me?!?!

I'm so down right now I haven't eaten or drank anything except for water and a mug sized White Russian. I am fat, and I can't seem to stick to anything to lose weight. Yes, I'm feeling bad for myself... to the point that all I want to do is drink and cry.

My weight is starting to interfere with my relationship... my boyfriend is pretty fit, and he's frustrated that I don't share the same passion for health and fitness...

I don't even know what this post is about... but I'm going to post it anyway just because if I don't you won't get a post today.

I'm so frustrated with myself I don't know what to do...

Chicken and Spinach Lasagna

POINTS® Value | 7
Servings | 8
Preparation Time | 30 min
Cooking Time | 50 min
Level of Difficulty | Easy

This tasty Italian casserole is a snap to make. Just use uncooked noodles and layer the other ingredients as usual. The dry pasta will absorb the extra liquid while cooking so you can say goodbye to runny lasagna!

Ingredients
1 sprays cooking spray
52 oz Contadina Marinara Sauce, or other low-fat marinara sauce
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion(s), chopped
1 pound uncooked ground chicken breast
30 oz fat-free ricotta cheese
2 large egg white(s), lightly beaten
1 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
9 items dry lasagna noodles
20 oz chopped frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
1 1/2 cup Kraft Low-Moisture, Part-Skim Finely Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, or similar product, divided
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Coat a large, deep lasagna pan with cooking spray. Measure 2 cups of marinara sauce; set aside.

  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook and stir until almost tender, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add chicken; cook until no longer pink, stirring frequently, about 4 to 5 minutes. Add remaining marinara sauce to skillet and stir until well combined; set aside.

  3. Mix together ricotta cheese, egg whites, garlic powder and Italian seasoning in a large bowl until well combined.

  4. To assemble lasagna, place 2 cups of reserved marinara sauce on bottom of dish. Layer with 3 noodles, 1/3 of ricotta mixture, 1/3 of spinach, 1/3 of mozzarella cheese and 1/3 of chicken-sauce mixture; repeat layers ending with chicken-sauce mixture. (Make sure to spread ingredients to edge of noodles.)

  5. Cover baking dish with aluminum foil. Bake lasagna for 20 minutes. Uncover; sprinkle with remaining mozzarella cheese and bake until cheese is melted and edges are bubbly, about 20 minutes more. Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before slicing into 8 pieces.

New Week...

I know every week you hear me talk about something else I'm going to try to get off the weight, some special twist I'm going to do to my Weight Watcher's program... please don't get impatient with me... I will get this weight off I just have the find the right combination...

I didn't go to my meeting today. I woke up at 7am... I should of been on the bus no later than 6:30am... and I didn't feel like starving until 9am. I haven't felt very good all this week... I think I got a slight case of the flu - I've felt a little achy and very energy-drained. Since rejoining since September 2008 I haven't missed a meeting except for Christmas week and that's because my weigh-in day fell on Christmas day and they were closed. I didn't want my week to be off so I just didn't go that week.

Okay... so in my continued attempt to lose 33 pounds by age 33. I don't know how I totally forgot about this... it's eating small meals every 3 hours and only using on average 3 points.

I realized for a while now I've been trying to be on Weight Watchers but not have a diet mentality... so it hasn't really worked because unless I'm on a diet mentality then I won't eat the way I should be and I'll end up spending 15 points on a sandwich and be hungry later and overeat.

So starting today - everyday my meal schedule is going to start at 6am and every 3 hours I'm going to check in and see if I'm hungry or have a snack/small meal available.

So far today I've had 3 egg whites, and as soon as I post this I'm gonna go have a Weight Watcher's Shake... also gonna go stock up tuna for fresh tuna salads... tuna and veggies... with a little lemon, don't even need mayonnaise.

We'll it's a busy day today... so I've better get going. I promise to make more diary entries and less recipe ones...

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, trimmed and sliced against the grain into 1/8-inch-thick slices
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
  • 6-8 small dried red chiles
  • 2 pounds broccoli, cut into small florets (6 cups)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 red bell pepper, seeded and sliced
  • 1/2 cup sliced scallion greens

1. With a small sharp knife or vegetable peeler, carefully pare wide strips of zest from one of the oranges. Cut zest into 1-inch strips and set aside. Squeeze juice from all the oranges into a small bowl (for about 3/4 cup). Add soy sauce, rice wine (or sherry), cornstarch and sugar and stir to combine; set aside.

2. Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat until almost smoking. Add beef and stir-fry just until no longer pink on the outside, about 1 minute. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels and set aside.

3. Add the remaining 2 teaspoons oil to the pan and heat until very hot. Add garlic, ginger, chiles and the reserved orange zest; stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add broccoli and water. Cover and steam, stirring occasionally, until the water has evaporated and the broccoli sizzles, about 3 minutes. Add bell pepper and stir-fry for 1 minute more.

4. Stir the reserved orange sauce and pour it into the wok. Bring to a boil, stirring; cook until the sauce has thickened slightly, 1 to 2 minutes. Add scallion greens and the reserved beef and toss to coat with sauce; heat through.

Saturday

I'm doing okay this week... I could be doing better... but I'll be getting lots of walking into day... I'm cleaning. I've been working on giving my apartment a complete make over... My living room has been taking forever to complete... had to start off with decluttering then move on to cleaning and now I'm about done with cleaning and am ready to set up my new sofa and start refinishing a couple of small pieces for the room. Today I'm finishing up the cleaning and possibly setting up the sofa.

I think cleaning and making over had giving me something else to focus on other than food. I'm working on trying to keep it together this week...

Weigh-In Day...

I'm down .8... 190.2. Not bad considering I fell off toward the middle of the week. Next week I'm aiming for a pound loss which will put me back into the 180's... that's my goal for the week... next goal will be 185.

One Point Brownies

1 Box Low Fat Brownie Mix (Betty Crocker has one) This should call
for water only, no oil and no egg
1 ½ Cup All Bran
1 ½ Cup Water
½ Teaspoon Baking Powder

Soak All Bran in water until soft. Mix in brownie mix and baking
powder until well mixed.

Either pour in pan or put in mini muffin tin. Makes 48 mini muffins
and should be cut into 48 pieces if using pan. Bake at 350 for about
30 minutes for muffins. Bake by instructions on box for pan brownies.

Each brownie is 1 point: 51 calories, 1 gram of fat and 1 gram of
fiber.

Remembering that they are high in fiber might help you keep your
consumption down... they could give you some gastric disturbances if
you eat too many! It makes a bunch so if you can't stay out of
stuff like that, you might want to just make them when you are going
somewhere to "share".

Today

Yesterday wasn't a very good day as far as points but today was much better... I saved 3 points... not too shabby.

Not much to say here... it's a little late but I wanted to check in and let you know I'm still sticking to 33 by 33... I have two more days and I think I'm actually going to have a loss this week... I think next week I'm going to work on being a little more organized.

Well it's past my bedtime so I've better hit the hay now...

Happy Losing...

Don't Talk With Your Mouth Full

It takes about 20 minutes for your body to know you're not hungry anymore after eating... eat slowly to give your body time to process what's happening, that it's being feed.

One of the things that bothers me the most is when people talk with their mouth full. I was raised not to talk with food in my mouth, funny thing is I'm constantly having to tell my mother (and daughter) the same thing... "Finish the food in your mouth, then tell me".

We rush through our meals, always trying to eat and do something else at the same time - like talking... if we didn't talk with our mouths full it would slow our eating down and help give our body time to know it's getting full.

So next time you're out for a meal try an experiment... chew your food, don't talk with food in your mouth, and enjoy the company you're with and the food you're eating... I bet you'll probably eat less.

33 by 33

Yesterday I made a video but wasn't able to edit it... having problems with Movie Maker... I've got a new campaign! 33 by 33! I'll be 33 - October 17th... my goal is to lost 33 pound from now until then - that gives me about 19 weeks to 33 pounds! I can totally do this. Yes, it's a little over a pound of week but if I apply myself I can do this.

Yesterday was weight in... 191.2
My Goal is October 15th... 158.2

Yesterday, I had an okay day... I could of done better - I only earned 1 activity point (which is nothing for me) and used up 11 of my flex points.

Today's going to be a better day... I'm having Oatmeal for Breakfast, a pear for snack, a sandwich for lunch, I'll have some things to do after work so I'll have dinner before I leave work so I won't be starving when I get home... I'll take my Smart Ones with me... I'll probably have a fruit between lunch and dinner... in the evening if I'm still hungry I'll have a Weight Watcher's Shake... that'll keep me right on point:

*Oatmeal with 1/2 cup Fat Free Milk - 3
*Pear - 1
*Sandwich - 13
*Pear - 1
*Lean Cuisine - 5
* Weight Watcher's Shake made with Fat Free Milk - 3
--------------------------------------------------------
TOTAL: 26 points

I can do this... I will reach my 33 by 33 goal... I just have to take it one day at a time. Patience and me-time are going to be key.

Your Aspirations Are Your Possibilities

The first ingredient of your success is to dream a great dream.
High expectation aalways precedes high achievement.
You much dream big and think big to be big.

Once your mind stretches to a new idea it will never go back to it's original dimensions.
If you think little gorals you can expect little achievement.
Think big goals and you'll win big success.

You're as small as your controlling desires, or as great as your dominant aspirations.

One Day Down

Thursdays are my weigh-in days... since I've been falling on the wagon every week - Thursdays are my fresh start days... the probably is lately I haven't even been getting through Thursday with out missing something water, vitamin, going over on my points, etc.

Yesterday, I drank all my water, took my vitamin, and stay with in my points. I did go over 3, but earned 4 from all the walking I did... I kicked ass yesterday.

Today I'm not doing bad, I just had my last meal. I'm using up some of my flex points today... it's the first day of TOM and I'm starving... I'm going to use about 10 points, but will probably earn back a few before bed.

Ross and I are going camping this weekend, we're leaving early in the morning... can't wait to get there. I've brought some fat free pringles, and some fruit to take with us for snacks... I've got chicken and veggies to make shish kabobs... and tomorrow we're gonna pick up some thinly sliced steak and other supplies for a healthy romantic camping trip... speaking of the trip - I've better get going got lots of stuff to do before tomorrow morning...

Happy Weekend!

New Focus

I haven't written a from the heart post in a very long time. Things have been crazy around here... I'm not sure if I shared, I think I did... my mother had a pinched nerve in her back which had her bed-ridden for a few weeks. It was very painful for her and very stressful for me.

I've been off program last week... not binging, just not journaling or counting points. Last Thursday, I went to a meeting at my daughter's school - the nurse told me she was very concerned about Vi's weight, and wants her to lose some. She feels she's put on about 30 pounds since the beginning of the year.

My daughter has been to hell and back this year. I can't even begin to tell you everything that's happened since 9th grade started... I'm finally getting her back on track and working on getting her back to being her... including a new school next year. She tried out for this art school and got in! I'm so proud of her... anyway, back to the weight thing. We talked about it and decided we're going to work on us this summer... forming healthier habits, getting our apartment in order - purging a whole bunch of stuff and fixing this joint up... turning it into a place we LOVE BEING not just coming home too.

Lately with everything going on I've been too drained to do any cooking. For dinner a lot of times we've headed over to Jack In The Box or someone else convient. Since the meeting at her school (Thursday) we have not had fast food. Which actually wasn't very hard. I had totally forgotten about Smart Ones and Lean Cruizines... how could I forget? I stocked our freezer with the meals for our dinners... which has made it so much easier for me. I don't have to worry about cooking dinner or going to pick something up. I do want to start cooking dinner again, but I have to clear some things off my plate first.

This past week I did some thinking... I've been doing Weight Watchers since September 2008. I got down to I think it was 181... and now I'm back up to 191 with only a 7 pound loss... it seems like the more I think about the weight I've gained back the more I'm gaining...

So this week I'm going to try something new... I'm not going to worry about the scale. I'm going to focus on staying with in my points range - that's it!

I've decided to take my weight down off the side bar of this blog so that when I log in it's not in my face. Today I didn't think about what my weight was on the scale... instead I was prepared and focused on my points allowance and what I was putting in my mouth.

I really thought about what I ate and if it was truely worth the point(s).

It's last now and I won't be doing any more eating... I did go over my points by 3 but I earned them back by walking... so far today I've walked 5.56 miles and I'm still not done! I've got some cleaning to do and some more water to drink before I head to bed.

I can do this, I can stay motivated, lose this weight and set a good example for my daughter.
